Yes, it will reduce condensation. Ducted heating cycles the air 2-5 times per hour, this warm air movement removes the stale humid air, thus reducing condensation. However, there are lots of things YOU can do to minimise dampness & condensation in your house first, before you invest money into a heating system or expensive ventilation system. Humid air and condensation can be generated by things people do in their homes on a daily basis (see table).
Is gas ducted heating safe?
Yes. No exposed flames, no hot surfaces and the by-products associated with gas heating are exhausted outside your home.
Is gas ducted heating cost effective?
Definitly. The cost of ducted heating is comparative with the cost of installing two space heaters. The running costs of ducted central heating has improved dramatically over the past 10 years, making this luxurious heating system affordable and efficient to run.
What is the warranty on a Brivis ducted system?
Factory backed 3 years parts & labour (extended to 5 years with two yearly servicing), and 10 years on the heat exchanger. This is subject to a correct installation. Beware of do-it-yourself kits or inexperienced installers. Use only Brivis recommended installers (see the warmair link). Buyer beware of other ducted heating systems which do not have a factory backed warranty in NZ, or an experienced and reliable service department in NZ.
Will ducted heating distribute dust through the house?
Maybe? But not ours! We install a G2 grade filter to remove dust particles from the air, and also a powdercoated metal return air grill with hinged access to easily remove and clean the filter.
Is ducted central heating drafty?
No. It is critical for ducted heating systems to be installed by professionals who are passionate about what they do, and take the time to ensure the heater is sized correctly for the airflow & heat demand required, vents must be positioned correctly. Installers must not be determined only by who is the cheapest. DIY is not recommended
